For websites that are related to UseNet news, there are few locations better suited to advertise your products or services on than FreeUsenetNews.com. With over 25,000 page views per day (and growing), targetted specifically at the UseNet news market, I directly reach the customers that you are trying to reach.
My custom advertising display software was designed to work seemlessly with my website. It attempts to prevent redisplay of banner ads to any visitor, until all advertisers have been displayed to that specific visitor. To accomplish this, I use cookies if supported by the visitors browser, or use the visitors IP address if cookies are not allowed. Unfortunately, because some visitors use proxy servers which use multiple IP address and block cookies, it is sometimes impossible to guarantee a low occurrence of duplicate ads.
To decrease the bandwidth requirements necessary to host banner ads on my site, advertisers will need to host their own banner ads. If an advertiser is unable to do this, additional charges will be necessary to make up for the increased bandwidth needs on my side.
I will accept advertisements of various sizes, but as a general rule I prefer ads that are standard ad sizes. The most common advertisement sizes are 468x60, 125x125 and 120x60. I display small ads (140 pixels or less wide) on several of my pages somewhere toward the middle of the body of the page on the right margin. At present, all pages display random banner advertisments (468x60), unless the page is being sponsored by a specific advertiser. I am considering setting up several of my pages to support dual 234x60 banner ads if I get enough demand. Pricing is different for different advertisement sizes.
NO POPUPS, POP UNDERS or EXIT PAGES! Everybody hates them, including me.

The last time I updated this file, I had the rough monthly numbers in the table to the right.
This option allows advertisers to place their ads on a specific page on my website. Their ad will be placed at the top of the page they request. Another random ad will be displayed at the bottom of the page unless the advertiser wishes to pay extra to have soul sponsorship. This is a month-to-month commitment with the advertiser, and each month must be paid by the 20th of the current month for sponsorship to continue to the next month. A fair price will be determined based on the popularity of the specific page requested. Any company which allows me to connect to their commercial servers and display their content using my news reader gets an automatic free sponsorship of all the pages in my news reader which display content from their servers. In the case of companies which I have an affiliate agreement with, this link will go to my signup page for their services. It is also possible to sponsor certain newsgroups inside of my news reader software, such as 'alt.binaries.multimedia', if you think your company would benefit from such a sponsorship. However, commercial servers will still have the sponsorship on that group for their servers.
This option allows advertisers to place their ads on my site for months at a time. This option is especially good for advertisers that wish to do advertising for special events or to "test the waters". These ads will appear throughout the site on a rotating basis with other advertisements, for the length of time you pay for.
This option allows advertisers to request a specific number of
impressions from my website. These impressions are sold in 1000
impression blocks and will continue to be displayed until all
impressions have completed. This type of advertising is usually
best for building name recognition with customers. These ads will
appear throughout the site on a rotating basis with other
advertisements, until all impressions have been used up.
If you wish to stop the campaign before all your impressions have
been used, I will stop the ads, but I will not refund any remaining
balance.
If I ever get around to creating a banner ad for my site, and you
have a complementary service to mine, I might be willing to trade
ads on your site for mine. If you feel that you have a site that
meets my criteria, drop me an email. If I agree, I will make the
darned ad
.
Okay, now for the pseudo-legalese mumbo-jumbo (please imagine an annoying voice whispering this at high-speed)
Although I would like to
display everyones ad that wants me to, I do reserve the right to
refuse anyones ads based on my wim. I will not display ads that
refer to any materials which are illegal in my area (or which I feel
might get me in trouble in your area). I will not display ads for
pornographic websites or gambling websites, someday when I meet my
maker I want to be able to say that you offered me a lot of money to
compromise my values and I turned you down. No ads will be accepted
which show scantily clad men, women or children in, out or falling
out of their clothing to sell things. Swimsuits are borderline,
depends on if you are selling swimming pools.
I occassionally check the banner ads being displayed on my site, and
if I find out you have swapped the ad content with something that I
have specifically said I will not allow: I will pull the ad, keep your
money and use it to talk to an attorney. If you change your ad
content to something that I don't approve of, but that I didn't
mention here, I will contact you and ask you to change it to
something that I feel is more appropriate, and add whatever it is to
my list. If you wish to discontinue your advertising on my site
because of such a change in policy on my behalf, I will refund the
unused portion of your fees. If you don't ask for your money back
and don't change your ad as I have requested, see the note above
about attorneys.
